Visit to Odwira Bereaved Family at Ahwerase

2025 Third General Assemblt Meeting The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Paul Osae Offei, accompanied by his team from the Municipal Assembly, paid a courtesy visit to the family that lost their son during a chieftaincy dispute at the Asona family house, as well as to those who sustained injuries in the ensuing riot.

During the visit, Osiahene Nana Ntow pleaded with the MCE to implement measures ensuring justice for those responsible for the incident. He further explained that the deceased had lost his wife two years earlier and had been solely responsible for his four children. The traditional leaders now face the burden of covering certain bills to support the family.

In response, Hon. Paul Osae Offei expressed gratitude for the compassionate efforts of the traditional leaders. He extended condolences to the bereaved family and the injured victims. He urged community members who witnessed the events to come forward and testify, enabling proper judgment. He advised against retaliation and encouraged cooperation with ongoing investigations.

The MCE commended the police, immigration service, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), and ambulance department for their prompt response during the dispute. He called on residents to disregard any misinformation about the situation, noting that security services are actively pursuing the case. Offenders have made their initial court appearance, with the next hearing scheduled for November 10, 2025. He also pledged to liaise with the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development to address the needs of the orphaned children.

Additionally, the assembly committed to providing GH₵2,500 to the bereaved family to transport the body to the police hospital for the necessary procedures.

The assembly member for Ahwerase appealed to security services to intensify their investigations, as some suspects have fled following the arrest of others.

The Aburi Divisional Police Commander, Mr. Sotoglo, urged community members to advise their relatives against taking the law into their own hands or engaging in misconduct. He emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated.

The chiefs assured him of their commitment to relay the message to every resident, urging them to refrain from similar acts.
